I still don't totally understand the flute. It seems like it just keeps popping up at random times. Does anyone think they know the significance?

Although I'm not entirely sure, I think the flute plays when Willy is experiencing strong emotions, such as sorrow, panic, or excitement. I'll have to recheck the scenes when the flute is heard to see if this is true.

I was really confused about this at times too. Maybe since the audience now knows that Willy's father played the flute, the author wants us to link it back so that whenever we see that the flute is played, we think of how the family relationship of the father before affects the relationship shown in the following scenes...?
