I thought that today's tournament was very fun and lively. I enjoyed watching and listening to the haiku rounds all the way until the finals where the epic battle between Jennifer and Jane took place. A haiku I wrote that I liked is this:

grass, nature's green hair
nourishment for hungry cows
always there to mow.

I really enjoyed the tournament today. I think it was a good opportunity for us ap kids to compete in a positive way, and we all got to be creative and hear eachother's work.

one of my favorites was written on the spot right before my round..

britney shakes her junk,
bopping around like bubbles.
i do not like it.

My favorite haiku was one I used in the first round.

Old ladies like books
What happens to library fees
When you leave the earth?

WOW! That Haiku tournament was such a blast! It was so fun to listen to everyone's creative pieces. Our class has such a rare point of view on random things, I noticed, and was very appreciative to hear their voices through their writing. Let's do it again. Okay? okay! My favorite haiku was the one I used in the first round as well.

Joe left English class.
He is a big, fat trader.
Run Joe! Run so fast!

I really liked the tournament. I hate going in front of the class and reading/saying things but I was able to kind of do the haikus okay.~ Everyone's was so funny and descriptive! I had a lot of fun.

I liked my rice crispy one~

Popping, Crackling
An unforced rhythm of peace
Rice Crispy breakfast

I actually don't eat that cereal for breakfast but I think I wanted to eat rice crispy treats when I wrote this.

The haiku tournament was a refreshing break from the rhetorical work we’ve been doing. The tournament was entertaining and engaging and offered a means of sharing our creativity. I hope there's another. Also, I’m not putting the insulting one up.

Books are entire worlds
Waiting for curious minds
To unveil their thoughts

The haiku tournament was so comical and entertaining. I had so much fun hearing the very descriptive ones and laughing at the most random ones in the bunch. It was an intense tourney everyone and we all did a good job! Hopefully we'll have another one! I didn't read this one but here goes...

Each day is precious
Jump! Run! Play! Live your life now.
Before it's too late.

I loved the tournament... We have some really funny and descriptive writers in our class... i'm impressed by and jealous of a lot of you!

Here's mine:

It comes once a month
My mother and father scream
cell phone bill chaos

I enjoyed writing the haikus and participating in the tournement, since I usually don't think or write creativly or in a subjective lense. It was different for me, and I enjoyed writing humorous haikus.
One of my favorites was

Cars screamed in my ear.
Personification - yes!
Bonus points for me

The tournament was very fun and I loved all the funny haikus, mostly because i can't write funny things, so it was very cool to hear what everyone came up with.

White is all i see
Ash falls from the sky like rain
The fire still burns

This haiku is actually a true story of when i was in italy, we were staying in this little town on the side of a mountain and on the other side of the mountain, a huge fire started, so the ash was blowing over and it was everywhere, falling from the sky.

I thought the Haiku tournament was fun! It was definitely good to see people having a good time. I thought everyone's haikus were very creative. Out of all the haikus I wrote, I liked this one the best:

starry starry sky
meditating silently,
oops! I fall asleep

I really enjoyed be able to have a lighthearted tournament like this in our class. It was cool seeing everyone's creative and homorous sides, too. I likes this haiku of mine:
Autumn:
Pumpkin seeds roasting
In a bright brick oven fire
Leaves falling softly

I really enjoyed hearing other people's haikus. I liked the contrast between the funny ones and the very descriptive, more serious ones. I think this was a good and fun break, but one that also helped us share our writing.

One haiku that I had fun writing:

shiny, black, free
happy, hopping high, chirping
'til he met Donald.

I really liked listening to everyone's haikus! They were all really good. Congrats to Jennifer! This was really fun and I hope we can do it again.
Here's one of mine.

A raging tempest
Darkness before the light
Swirling wind and hail.

Well, my favorite that I wrote:
What is similar?
A pit bull and a hockey mom
Thank you Alaska
I also want to throw out this one because i had to get gas today and it was a killer...
Gas prices explained
Four dollars for one gallon?
I think I will walk

The haiku tournament was pretty great. Although I felt foolish when I was up, it was fun watching everyone else. People had good descriptive ones and funny ones too. Of the ones I wrote, I liked my Spanish one the best, but due to obvious reasons, I won't post that one, so this:

Zooming in are shapes
Complex crystalline structures
Zooming out as one

I thought it was really interesting to see the switch between funny and descriptive haikus. The first one I wrote was my favorite:

Reagan has mono.
I feel really bad for her.
I should wash my hands.

The haiku tournament was so much fun. I loved how everyone contributed a little of their poetic (and humorous) side. I can't wait until the next haiku tournament! I suppose my favorite haiku was the first one I used:

Trees whisper throughout
The wind flows through the forests
Life keeps on dancing

It all been said before, but the haiku tournament was great fun and it was enjoyable to listen to both descriptive and humorous pieces.
My favorite haiku was:
A tiny penguin
In a world of ice and snow
Dinner for a seal

This of course refering to a penguin's main predator, the leopard seal.
